Jose Mourinho agrees to become new Roma head coach
In pretty unexpected breaking news Jose Mourinho has sensationally agreed to become the new Roma head coach from the start of the 2021/22 season.
It was expected Mourinho's next destination would be something slightly unexpected as he has cut so many ties that he is running out of options. After a mixed time at Tottenham his Premier League options had become limited with no likelihood of going back to Manchester United or Chelsea and Liverpool and Arsenal unlikely to appoint a manager with Mourinho's principles.
In La Liga he would have no chance of getting the job at Barcelona or Atletico and in Bundesliga Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund would not be a fan of his management style.
That always left Italy as the most likely destination in my opinion but i did expect it to be Juventus or one of the Milan clubs.
Of course Roma have recently faced Mourinho's old club Manchester United and lost that game 6-2 so it seems one big rebuild would need to be on the cards.
Roma are currently seventh in Serie A and european football next year looks unlikely.
That could see Mourinho go full tilt at the Serie A title but Inter Milan have been fantastic this season and Juventus will surely improve next year so it will be very difficult.
The Roma side that faced Manchester United:
Roma: Pau López (Mirante 28); Smalling, Cristante, Ibañez; Karsdorp, Diawara, Veretout (Villar 5), Spinazzola (Bruno Peres 37); Pellegrini, Mkhitaryan; Džeko
